alright...
there are so many people in need of help down the street, and on the coast of california right now due to flooding, terrible mudslides, and the normally empty- now evil- l.a. river. last night i saw a 200 foot mudslide on the news as it was happening. the slide demolished a handful of houses and the death count is 3 people so far, but there are still quite a few people unaccounted for, as rescuers still search through the rubble and mud for more victims. by the river, there was a helpless man who watched his house fall into the river, as the soil undeneath the house had been chipping away all day. also, flooding has done much more than damage so many houses as people are being evacuated from community after community.
now, i am all for the red cross efforts in the tsunami horror. i just feel like american society leeches onto these 'hip' charity cases and all the sudden you're a piece of shit if you haven't donated $1 at the check out line in the grocery store. there are so many problems and tragedies in america that need charity and relief, what the hell makes asia so popular? i know that probably sounds horrible and cold, but, c'mon! maybe the deathtoll from the west coast weather hasn't been super high, but people and families here, in america are losing their homes and lives as we speak, and everybody seems to be shrugging their shoulders.
what do you think?
